SCOTUS Declines To Hear Arizona Abortion Law Appeal

The United States Supreme Court has refused to allow an Arizona law involving abortion providers to take effect.

The high court ruled Arizona cannot disqualify agencies that provide abortions from receiving funding for other medical services they provide.

The court declined to hear Attorney General Tom Horne’s appeal on Monday. Horne had asked the justices to overturn a federal court ruling from 2012 blocking the law. That ruling was upheld by an appeals court panel in August.

Under the law, groups like Planned Parenthood and other health providers that perform abortions would have been unable to receive public funds for other services.

In May, the Supreme Court refused to revive a similar law in Indiana that had also been blocked.
