Democratic Arizona Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema says she plans to try to reverse some of the damage the state is feeling as a result of the controversy over SB1062.
Sinema told KJZZ this morning she talked with Arizona’s tourism officials in Washington last night.
“I volunteered to call every single convention that canceled in the last week, personally, and invite them to reschedule and come back," Sinema said. "We’ve got to work hard to make sure that SB1062 doesn’t have a long-lasting negative financial impact on our state.”
Sinema said her message will be very clear, that Arizona is a welcoming and diverse place and the people of the state understand the importance of having an open and welcoming atmosphere.
Still, the National Hispanic Bar Association, which Wednesday canceled its 2015 convention in Arizona, says despite the veto that cancelation stands.
