Greenway Parkway will be closed between 19th Avenue and 7th Street.

A major thoroughfare in North Phoenix will be closed for six months starting Monday.

The city of Phoenix said Greenway Parkway will be closed between 19th Avenue and 7th Street starting in the wee hours of Monday morning and running through September.

Crews will be demolishing the Cave Creek Wash Bridge, which runs down Greenway from 14th Avenue to 17th Drive. Traffic will be detoured at 19th Avenue and 7th Street onto either Thunderbird Boulevard or Bell Road.

The city also recommends drivers exiting Interstate 17 who need to head eastbound should exit at Thunderbird or Bell. Despite the closure, local and business access will still be available.
