This weekend the Phoenix area experienced a change in weather as a storm system brought rain and thunderstorms into the Valley. But in Mesa, the storm also brought something uncommon to Arizona — a tornado.
Mark O’Malley, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, says it wasn’t too serious.
“Luckily it was only on the ground for a short period of time and quickly lifted,” O’Malley said. “So, there was no injuries and just a very little amount of damage.”
O’Malley says the storms are gone for this week and temperatures will begin warming back up to the 80s by Wednesday.
