On Thursday, former Fiesta Bowl CEO John Junker will be sentenced in U.S. District Court for his role in a campaign finance scandal that hurt the bowl's reputation and nearly led to its removal from college football's national championship rotation. Those in charge of the bowl now seem to think the bad times are in the rear view mirror, as evidenced by the departure of Executive Director Robert Shelton, who helped reestablish good feelings about the bowl.
