Police Sergeant James Holmes says Angelo de Leon was arrested after he was seen walking in a roadway, possibly impaired by alcohol, and acting strangely. Holmes says officers then recognized him from surveillance videos as a possible suspect in the case.
“It’s not just about the economic loss,” Holmes said. “It’s more about the violence that could occur. You know, we don’t know what would have happened on beer run number 55.”
Holmes says the suspect in the Circle K videos took a very calm approach, just walking into the stores, picking up several 24 packs of beer and walking out. The convenience store chain says the thefts cost it about $6,800 in total losses.
