Tempe Police Investigate ASU Student's Fatal Fall

Police in Tempe are investigating the death of an 18-year-old Arizona State University student, who fell to her death from the 10th floor balcony of an apartment complex after attending a party Saturday night. Sgt. Michael Pooley said Naomi McClendon fell to her death about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

“She was extremely intoxicated, goes to her friend’s apartment,” Pooley said. “She goes out on the balcony and she gets too close to the edge and we actually have surveillance video of her laying on top of the railing.”

Pooley said the young woman was from Kansas. He said she lived at one of the university dorms in downtown Phoenix.
