Planned Parenthood wasted no time in filing an appeal, after a federal judge refused to block restrictions on an abortion drug.
Planned Parenthood filed a motion with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals shortly after a Tucson federal judge allowed the law to go into effect Tuesday. That law calls for abortion drug, R U 486, to be administered no later than seven weeks into the pregnancy. A second pill must also be taken in a clinic.
In the past, women were able to take doses up until the ninth week of pregnancy. Planned Parenthood has said the law would force hundreds of women to get surgical abortions. But in his ruling, the judge said there aren't obstacles big enough to show a need to block the law.
