We told you last week about the newest taste treat at Chase Field: the 18-inch corn dog, the D-Bat. Now, the numbers are in for Chef Michael Snoke’s $25 creation and Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall says we’re talking sell-out.
“One fan suggested that there would be a t-shirt for the fan that gets the final one each game when they run out, because the line was so long and people were turned away and they were sad,” Hall said. “So, we thought about a t-shirt ‘I got the last D-Bat corn dog.’”
Hall says it takes two days to make the huge corn dogs, so the chef is trying to figure out how to stock up while the team is on the road. He says fans bought 300 D-Bats on opening day and 100 each at both the next two games of the home stand. Hall says demand for the huge corn dog is so big the team is trying to figure out whether to sell it at more stands. He says they’re even considering a still-bigger corn dog for next year.
