Congress is considering Constitutional amendments and legislative fixes to negate a Supreme Court decision that lifted the limits on campaign contributions to politicians.
Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva says the ruling, which allows unlimited contributions, continues a trend in
“The voter suppression laws that states like Arizona and others are passing are good to that same intent, to limit turnout and to anoint people with money and make them the favorite candidates, a very, very dangerous precedent,” Grijalva said.
Grijalva calls the court decision a threat to democracy. A number of bills and amendments have been introduced to reverse or modify the ruling, but Grijalva says it is unlikely any of them will be approved because of the political makeup of the House and Senate.
