ADOT Asks Motorists To Obey Speed Limits In Construction Zones

The Arizona Department of Transportation is again urging motorists to observe the speed limit in construction zones. ADOT’s Doug Nintzel says eight people died in Arizona work zone accidents in 2012, and that speed was a major factor.

“More than 35 percent of fatal work zone crashes, speeding was a key factor, so it is important that people learn to slow down,” Nintzel said.

Nintzel says crashes can also take place when drivers fail to react to merging lanes, or run into other vehicles or heavy equipment.
