Temperatures are on their way up to the high 90s on Wednesday, continuing through Friday. But that doesn’t mean the hot Phoenix summer weather is already here to stay. This weekend it should cool back down to the mid 80s. The National Weather Service’s Marvin Percha explained fluctuations between hot and cool are normal this time of year.
"Basically from the month of April temperatures kind of bounce up and down, so it doesn’t really get solidly hot until perhaps the end of May and into June," Percha said.
There are still some cool and maybe even cloudy days ahead despite the coming hot spell. The highest temperature on April 9 was in 1989, at 102 degrees.
