RealtyTrac: Arizona Foreclosure Filings Down In 2014

The latest foreclosure numbers, released Thursday morning by RealtyTrac, show Arizona had 6,700 properties with a foreclosure filing in the first quarter of this year. That is down 19 percent from the final quarter of 2013 and 51 percent from the first quarter of last year, according to company Vice President Daren Blomquist.

“It’s the lowest quarterly number of foreclosure filings we’ve seen in Arizona since way back in the fourth quarter of 2006. So, we’re really getting back to pre-housing-bubble-bursting levels of foreclosure activity," Blomquist said.

And Blomquist said the monthly foreclosure numbers show the same thing with 2,200 filings statewide in March. He said that is about the average in the state during 2005 and 2006. Blomquist said Arizona’s foreclosure rate in the first quarter was actually lower than the national average, which he said is a far cry from what we saw a couple years ago.
