Brewer Signs Law Allowing Unannounced Abortion Provider Inspections

Gov. Jan Brewer has signed into law a bill that will allow unannounced inspections of abortion providing health centers.

Before the change, the state Department of Health Services was required to obtain a search warrant. A federal court previously overturned similar legislation.

But abortion foes argue that the new law will pass court review under a new set of abortion clinic regulations the state adopted in 2010. Abortion rights advocates disagree.
