Study Says Arizona's Asian Population Growing Fast

Arizona’s Asian population is growing faster than any other ethnic group in the state.  A new study based on Census Bureau data shows the state’s Asian population more than doubled in a decade.

The report, issued by the American Center for Progress, says Arizona’s Asian population in 2010 was at nearly 263,000.  That’s up from more than 92,000 Asians in the state in 2000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Only Nevada saw a larger jump in the Asian population during the same period.  The U.S. Census says California had 6 million Asians in 2010, that’s the largest population in the country.  Chinese and East Indians make up the largest groups of Asian-Americans nationwide.
