A Phoenix woman accused of throwing a shoe at Hillary Clinton during a speech in Las Vegas has pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges. The woman was not allowed to post bail.
Alison Ernst entered the pleas in Las Vegas federal court to violence against a person and trespassing. Ernst is accused of bypassing security and entering the ballroom where Clinton was speaking two weeks ago.
During the speech Ernst allegedly threw a shoe at the former Secretary of State.
The shoe did not strike Clinton, and Ernst immediately surrendered to authorities.
A federal magistrate found that the 36-year-old Ernst was a flight risk and danger to the community and ordered her to remain in federal custody.
He appointed two public defenders to represent her and set a trial date for June 25.
