Former Phoenix Suns star and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is calling for NBA to suspend Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling indefinitely for the racially insensitive comments he allegedly made to a former girlfriend.
KJ, who is advising the National Basketball Players Association on the matter, says the league should name an executive or family member to run the team and levy the maximum fine possible as punishment.
“The players wanted to ensure that Mr. Sterling does not attend any games for the Clippers, or any other team, for the duration of the playoffs,” Johnson said.
Johnson has posted on Twitter, saying “we’re at a defining moment in the history of the National Basketball Association.”
The NBA’s new commissioner Adam Silver is expected to take action against Sterling during a news conference today.
