Woman Dies After Falling 400 Feet At The Grand Canyon

The National Park Service is continuing to investigate the death of a Flagstaff woman who fell 400 feet to her death at Grand Canyon National Park .

Spokeswoman Kirby-Lynn Shedlowski says it’s unclear what happened but that accidental deaths do take place from time to time when people get too close to the canyon edge.

“You know in some areas there are no railings or walls separating people from the actual rear of the canyon and so yes, that is a concern,” Shedlowski said.

She says the body of 45-year-old Jody McDaniel was found below Mather Point.
