Microsoft announced problems with their Internet Explorer web browser Saturday. Since then, Arizona State University is warning against using the browser.
Microsoft reported “limited, targeted attacks” that have made the browser’s security more vulnerable.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security responded Monday. It warned Americans to avoid using the browser until it is fixed.
Early Wednesday, the country’s largest public university followed suit. ASU sent an email to all its faculty, staff and students, telling them to stop using Internet Explorer.
The email suggests other browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. It does not say anything about switching back once Microsoft fixes the issue.
Internet Explorer is included as the default web browser on all Windows PCs.
