A tractor trailer with a shipment of jalapeños was found carrying something extra when it was stopped at a Nogales port this week. Authorities seized more than a ton of marijuana hidden among the peppers.
When U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Mariposa port did an extra inspection of the truck on Wednesday, they found 105 bales of marijuana. The load was worth more than $1.2 million.
A 50-year-old Mexican man who was driving the truck was arrested and turned over to ICE investigators, along with the marijuana.
No word on what happened to the jalapeños.
