A judge has overturned the demotion of a Tucson police officer for taking sexually explicit pictures and videos of herself and sending them to another officer.
A Pima County Superior Court judge reversed the demotion of former police Lt. Diana Lopez, to sergeant in 2012. He says the police department had no policy warning staff members against such conduct and Lopez was not given fair notice her conduct was prohibited and she could be disciplined for it.
The Arizona Daily Star says an investigation found Lopez took provocative images of herself wearing her uniform shirt and sent them to a subordinate officer she was in a relationship with. That officer, shared the images with other officers.
The department alleged Lopez, a department spokeswoman at the time, violated several departmental regulations, professional standards and a code of ethics. The judge called her conduct private and personal.
