Plane Evacuated At Phoenix-Mesa Gateway

An Allegiant Air flight was evacuated on the runway at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport on Monday afternoon. The plane’s pilot reported a strange smell.

Flight 142 to Wichita, Kansas, was getting ready for departure Monday afternoon when Federal Aviation Administration officials say the pilot smelled some sort of chemical. The plane was quickly evacuated with passengers using slides.

It isn't immediately clear how many passengers and crew were on the plane. No injuries were reported, and the FAA says it's investigating the cause of the smell.
