Albuquerque VA May Have Had Secret List Similar To Phoenix

One of President Barack Obama’s closest advisers is headed to Phoenix on Thursday, to meet with top officials at the VA Medical Center.

A VA spokesman says White House Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nabors will meet with interim Phoenix VA Hospital director Steve Young. Nabors will probe charges of a secret waiting list at the facility and possible patient deaths due to delayed care and a cover-up by top VA administrators in Phoenix.

That has led to calls for the resignation of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.

There are also reports of a secret waiting list at the Albuquerque VA Hospital. But the Daily Beast reports that list may be hard to track down, because it was either moved or destroyed after reports about the Phoenix VA came to light.

One doctor says vets in Albuquerque were waiting up to eight months to get ultrasounds of their heart.
