The Arizona Department of Public Safety will be beefing up patrols for the Memorial Day weekend.
Spokesman Bart Graves says the effort begins officially Friday afternoon, with saturation patrols through the holiday weekend.
“They will be targeted in ah northern Arizona, for instance, Flagstaff, Page and Williams regions. Here in the Phoenix metropolitan area," Graves said. "Yuma will have saturation patrols, Casa Grande, Tucson, Green Valley, so it’ll be statewide.”
Graves says the enhanced patrol will be focused on impaired and distracted drivers, which he says have been a factor in a series of wrong-way crashes in the state over the past ten days.
