Fire restrictions are in effect across the state. The areas of Sedona, Flagstaff and the Prescott and Tonto National Forests are will be under Stage Two fire restrictions beginning Friday.
That means no campfires anywhere in the forest and that people who are smoking are restricted to buildings or vehicles.
Prescott Forest spokeswoman Debbie Maneely says liquid petroleum or LPG-fueled devices are still okay.
“If you can turn on your propane still and turn it off, it’s allowed. If you have a propane heater and you can turn it on and off, it’s going to be allowed," Maneely said. "What’s not gonna be allowed is anything with an open flame that cannot be controlled.”
Maneely says the restrictions are being put in place because vegetation is extremely dry due to a lack of rain or snow.
She says the restrictions will continue until forest officials determine conditions have change enough to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires.
