Piestewa Peak is one of the more common places for Phoenix Fire to be called for a mountain rescue.

The Phoenix Fire Department is on track to respond to more than 200 rescues in the city’s mountain preserves this year. That would be an increase of more than 30 calls from last year.

During the first quarter of 2014, the department has fielded twice the calls as the same period of last year.

Capt. Jonathan Jacobs is a Public Information Officer with the Phoenix Fire Department.
