A memorial service is scheduled Friday for a Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community police officer who was shot to death during a traffic stop over the weekend.
The FBI says a candlelight vigil is being held for Officer Jair Cabrera at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chevron station at Pima and Chaparral roads where he was shot early Saturday.
Cabrera had just made a traffic stop near that intersection. After the stop the vehicle pulled into the gas station and one subject opened fire, striking the officer. Three people were taken into custody.
Pubic visitation will take place Wednesday between 5:30-7:30 p.m. at West Rest Haven Mortuary in Glendale.
A memorial service will be held Friday morning at ten, at Christ Church of the Valley. Cabrera is to be laid to rest at Phoenix Memorial Park on Beardsley Road immediately following the service.
