The 2001 movie “Black Hawk Down” brought the Somali civil war into the minds of many Americans.

But for Halima Abdirazak, it’s far more personal - she and her family had to flee the violence, eventually ending up in Arizona.

She traces that journey in her new book, called “My Father’s Legacy.” She was in school when the war broke out - as she recounts at the start of her book.
