No Injuries In California Military Jet Crash

IMPERIAL, Calif. — A Marine Corps spokesman says no one was injured when a jet crashed in a residential area in a Southern California desert community.

Despite the jet smashing into at least one house and setting at least two on fire in a row of tightly spaced homes in Imperial on Wednesday, 1st Lt. Jose Negrete says no one on the ground was hurt.

He says the pilot ejected safely and was taken to a hospital only for evaluation.

The roof of the house that took the brunt of the crash was gone, but the walls were still standing.
