The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a high pollution advisory Friday.  Spokesman Bob Huhn said monitors around Maricopa County measured higher ozone levels than the federal health standard.

He said residents to help by, "...driving less when possible, um if they can walk or ride a bike, carpool that would help. Avoid waiting in long drive through lines for example at coffees shops or fast food restaurants or banks."

Huhn said all of these produce pollutants that contribute to the ground level ozone, which is basically the air we breathe and the main component of smog. High pollution days are more common between April and September because of the heat.
