How The Foundation Of College Sports Is Changing

A huge settlement earlier this week related to compensating college athletes had an Arizona tie. Former ASU quarterback Sam Keller had filed suit against the NCAA over the use of athletes’ likenesses in video games produced by Electronic Arts, or EA Sports.

Another case that’s moving to the trial phase could lead to the NCAA lifting rules prohibiting college athletes from being paid for the use of their names or images in broadcasts and video games.

Sports law attorney Timothy Liam Epstein of the Chicago firm SmithAmundsen discussed the changing foundation of college athletics.
