Despite Limited Revenue, ADOT Adds Some Highway Construction Projects

The State Transportation Board approved a new Five-Year Construction Program late last week.

While the Arizona Department of Transportation's plans are still hampered by a huge loss in revenue, the board added three new projects in what's known as greater Arizona -- anything outside Maricopa or Pima county.

ADOT will spend about $1.8 billion on those plans over the next five years. About 10 percent of that money will go to expanding the reach of highways.
