A Utah judge wants people living in a polygamous sect on the Utah-Arizona border who haven't been paying rent to be evicted from their homes.
The judge said that most members of Warren Jeffs' sect have been ignoring the state mandated fee of $100 per month, per house for too long and that "enough is enough."
She suggested starting with a few evictions to send a message.
The homes have been tied up in the courts since a trust that holds them was seized by Utah in 2005 over allegations of mismanagement by leaders of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The sect is a radical offshoot of mainstream Mormonism. FLDS members believe in polygamy.
The state's goal has been to return the 750 homes and other property -- worth an estimated $118 million -- to community members in Colorado City, Arizona, and Hilldale, Utah.
Jeffs is in a Texas prison where he is a serving a life sentence for sexually assaulting underage girls he considered brides.
