There's a new process in effect for getting an Arizona driver's license. When you go in to get a license, you'll leave with a temporary driver's license. The permanent license will be mailed to you within about 15 days.
The Motor Vehicle Division says the focus of the new process is protecting your personal information and protecting against identity theft. Arizona is following a change that has been taking place across the country, with the new licenses on a background that contains numerous security features.
MVD says there is no reason to rush out to get a new license. Your current license or ID card will remain valid until its expiration date or until the 12-year mark when a new photo is needed.
