Police Warn About A New Kind Of Car Scam

Police are warning Arizona residents about a different kind of car-selling scam.

Chandler police detective Seth Tyler says suspects are breaking into vehicles to steal the vehicle registration papers. He says once they have the registration they list a similar vehicle for sale.

“It convinces the buyer to send money to the suspect to hold the vehicle,” Tyler said. “Once they send that money the suspect disappears.”

Tyler advises people who don’t have a secure place to store their vehicles to make sure vehicle is locked and if you can he says you should also lock the glove box.
