Glendale Votes To Extend A Sales Tax Indefinitely

The Glendale city council is scheduled to vote Tuesday night on a measure to extend a temporary sales tax indefinitely.

The council approved the increase in June 2012, pushing the city sales tax to 2.9 percent. The tax increase of 0.7 percent generates about $27 million annually.

The tax was supposed to expire in 2017, City leaders say the extension is needed to help meet expected budget shortfalls.
