Looser Marijuana Laws Complicate Drug Testing Policies

Earlier this month, United States Senators Rand Paul and Cory Booker co-sponsored an amendment that would ban the federal government from going after state medical marijuana programs.

Arizona is one of about two dozen states that has legalized medical marijuana. Plus, Colorado and Washington now have legal recreational marijuana for adults.

Things are changing — but many companies with drug testing policies haven't fully decided how to handle employees who legally use medical marijuana, said Deborah Keary with the Society For Human Resource Management. She said her colleagues follow developments like these very closely.
