While afternoon temperatures in the Valley have been hovering around 109 the past few days, Tucson has just recorded its third-hottest June ever.
National Weather Service meteorologists said the average temperature in Tucson last month was 88.9 degrees over a 24-hour period. That makes it the third-hottest June since the weather service has kept records in the Old Pueblo.
In June of 2013, the average Tucson temperature was 89.5 degrees.
Last month, Tucson had 29 days of 100 degrees or hotter, the second most for June in the city.
The streak was broken for one day when the high reached 99 on June 18th.
There was also zero rainfall in Tucson last month and there are still a few months ahead of hot weather in southern Arizona.
