Gas Prices Around Arizona May Be Leveling Off

The statewide average price is $3.59-a-gallon, down about a penny from last week. AAA Arizona spokeswoman Linda Gorman says prices could even go lower in the weeks ahead, as this summer fails to follow the normal pricing patterns.

“We saw a later spike than usual, in fact we’re paying the highest price for gasoline, leading into Independence Day holiday, than we’ve paid in the last five or so years since 2008,” Gorman said.

Gorman says while tensions in the Middle East are keeping oil prices high, Hurricane Arthur will likely have little impact on the market. Flagstaff has Arizona ’s highest average prices at $3.82, up four cents from last week, while Tucson has the lowest, at $3.37-a-gallon, down a penny.
