The first dust storm of the season swept through Phoenix last night. The National Weather service estimated more than an inch of rain in some parts of the Valley in just 30 minutes with winds up to 50 miles an hour. Scott Roofing Company’s Mandi Hatcher said their crews are working this holiday to repair some of the damage.
“We are getting urgent calls that patios have flipped up and over," said Hatcher. "And they’re asking for us to flip down their patio that has flipped up on over itself and try to nail that back down."
Hatcher said they are also getting a lot of calls asking for temperary tarp repairs, but these kinds of repairs won't hold up in monsoon winds.
"Everybody is asking for tarping, so we are trying to steer people away from tarping given the wind and these new Haboobs that come through," she said.
Hatcher said most of their calls are coming from Sun City, Goodyear and Northwest Phoenix although damage was caused throughout the valley.
