What Makes A City Or State Small-Business Friendly

Your level of friendliness can be measured by how much you smile or how willing you are to help someone out. From a small business standpoint, though, friendliness has more to do with taxes and regulations.

For the third year, the online market service company Thumbtack has teamed up with the Kauffman Foundation to figure out which cities and states are doing the best jobs of making small businesses comfortable.

The study measured 11 categories, but Chief Economist Jon Lieber said the businesses surveyed found some were more important than others.
