Gas Prices Drop In Arizona

Gas prices are falling. Since last week, the cost of a gallon in Arizona has dropped three-tenths of a cent.

This Fourth of July weekend Arizona had the highest gas prices since 2008. Stephanie Dembowski with AAA Arizona said prices are higher in the summer because what’s in the pump is a different type of gas.

“During the summer, we switch over our fuel blends which is a cleaner-burning blend and it’s more expensive to manufacture," Dembowski said. "So that’s one of the main reasons pump prices tend to be a little bit higher in the summer.”

Dembowksi said the EPA requires switching to the cleaner gasoline because it helps to reduce smog and air pollution.
