Music parodies have been around for decades, from the vinyl days of Allan Sherman, to Weird Al Yankovic changing lyrics of the biggest pop hits.
But The Dan Band has gone in a unique direction, covering songs made famous by female vocalists. The group performed "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler in the movie "Old School."
The Dan Band, led by Dan Finnerty, will be at the Tempe Improv this weekend. Finnerty says the idea started with a positive reaction at a karaoke party on his last night with the musical "Stomp."
