Close Calls: A River Rescue In Texas

For two friends, 9-year-old Francis Benton of Marfa, Texas and 11-year-old Griffin Carlin of Alpine, their weekend trip unraveled in the early morning of Memorial Day as nature turned nasty. They were caught in a flash flood.

“We survived and we learned something about helping each other," said Griffin. "And we learned something about life.”


Arizona Senators To Introduce Legislation To Address Child Migrant Crisis

Arizona Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake will be introducing legislation to address the tens of thousands of children arriving at the United States-Mexico border from Central America.

“This crisis will continue until the parents who paid thousands of dollars to smuggle their children north to the United States see plane-loads of them landing back at home — their money wasted,” McCain said in a statement on Thursday.

“To get into a pond with living critters crawling around the bottom of it in the dark, for the next, say, six hours,” he said, pausing just a beat. “It takes a different person."
