A Yarnell elementary school will stay open after struggling with enrollment and financial issues.
To keep Model Creek Elementary School doors open, the board had to cut nearly $100,000 in staff pay and raise property taxes.
In just one year, the school’s student population dropped by more than 20 percent. After the Yarnell Hill Fire in June of 2013 the school’s enrollment fell because families moved out of town.
