Tempe Turns Storm Debris To Compost

The City of Tempe is taking storm debris and turning it into compost.

Tempe’s compost program has been up and running for several years, but this is the first time they’ve focused on reaching out to the community after a storm.

“It goes back into our parks, our golf courses and we give it to residents for their own gardens and for community gardens," said Amanda Nelson with the City of Tempe. "So, it really comes full circle and goes back into the community.”

The city is targeting areas this weekend that were hard hit and urges residents to call the Tempe 311 hotline if they would like their storm debris to be collected.
