Phoenix Health Watch Issued Due To High Ozone Levels

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a Health Watch for today because of high ozone levels.

Mark Shaffer, the media relations director for ADEQ says that’s not as serious as a high-pollution advisory, but still affects people with pre-existing respiratory conditions, younger and older people.

“Health Watch basically just says that those affected groups should take precautions not to over exert in those surroundings,” Shaffer said.

The high in Phoenix today is predicted to be 112 degrees and Shaffer says the dry heat is expected to continue for the week, meaning those ozone levels aren’t going anywhere soon.
