High Number Of Undecided Voters For Republican Primary Election

The latest Rocky Mountain poll from Phoenix-based Behavior Research Center shows, with less than a month before the election, most people don't know who they want to vote for in the Republican Primary for Governor.

Research Director Earl DeBerge says among voters who have a preference, Christine Jones and Doug Ducey are in a statistical tie with 18 and 16 percent respectively.

DeBerge says the high number of undecideds is surprising, but that could be good news for the more centrist candidates, like Scott Smith and Ken Bennett.

"I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Mr. Smith and Mr. Bennett to charge as we get down toward the election date, because they are taking a more moderate role and that appeals to a lot of voters that 50 percent now are undecided and not committed," DeBerge said.

The primary election is August 26 and early voting begins Thursday.
