Suspect In Murder Of Border Patrol Agent Arraigned In Tucson

Another one of the five men accused of the murdering a Border Patrol agent has been extradited from Mexico to appear in federal court in Tucson.

Agent Brian Terry was with other Border Patrol agents when he was shot and killed north of Nogales, Ariz., in 2010. Ivan Soto-Barraza is one of five men charged with Terry’s murder.

“This marks another step forward in our aggressive pursuit of those responsible for the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry,” said U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

Two of the guns found at the scene of the shooting were part of “Operation Fast and Furious” a botched government attempt to track gun smuggling.

Soto-Barraza is the second man to be extradited from Mexico for trial in Tucson. According to the federal government, of six defendants charged so far, two have pleaded guilty and two are awaiting trial. Two more men remain at large.
