Officers from the Department of Public Safety and six other Arizona law enforcement agencies are returning from a workshop on trends in child exploitation and trafficking.
DPS spokesman Raul Garcia said it’s a fast-growing but troubling segment of organized crime. And he said the seminar dealt with how to recognize exploitation cases,
“Criminal organizations profiting from the trafficking of children typically exploit them through pornography and prostitution. Many cases involve runaway children,” Garcia said.
Garcia said officers learned methods to collect pertinent information and evidence of human trafficking and how to address the immediate safety and well being of a child during a traffic stop or law enforcement contact.
